A formation of a MiG-29, F-4F, Tornado and Eurofighter - quite an uncommon sight today in 2007. But nearly everyday business back in 2002 at Germany's Flight Test Centre WTD 61 (Wehrtechnische Dienststelle) in Manching.

Located in the centre of the californian dessert Edwards AFB is the main location for research and flight test of new US aircraft and aerial vehicles. This is mainly due to the fact of the excellent weather conditions with nearly no rain days during the year and the great salt lake which has been an ideal runway used for the first landings.

This open doors day at Payerne AF Base, located near Bern, was originally meant as a celebration day for young recruits of the Swiss AF, who officially got their promotion that day. For the parents and the public, which assisted that ceremony, some activities were presented around the base.
At the outside a simulated fire rescue mission was presented as well as the flight preparations on F-5 Tigers and Alouette III helicopters.
