La Ferté-Alais MeetingWhere? Aérodrome de Cerny - La Ferté-Alais
When? 26-27/05/2007

The anticipation for this year's trip to the 35ième Fête Aérienne (35th airshow) at La Ferté-Alais was once again very dependent on the weather gods. Whereas the planned line-up for the show was once again excellent and well mixed, the forecasts were very variable depending on the source. But I didn't care about that anyway as everything was fixed well in advance and the participants lists was even more exciting.

FW 190In the beginning it promised even a flight display of a German F-4F Phantom, obviously participating in the Vietnam scenario together with a Bell UH-1D, which was as well from Germany, as well as two French Navy Super Etendards and an E-2C Hawkeye. Unfortunately they did not plan any mixed formation together with the warbirds on site, but in the end that didn't matter as unfortunately none of the promised modern aircraft participated in the show. Furthermore the big highlight, a FW 190, as it was announced on the airshow poster, did not come due to certification issues, as did the Rafale, for which the reason is not known. But fortunately the usual line-up together with some surprises compensates for this.

nice BBQThe warbirds were the common ones of the Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis (AJBS) being display annually during that big event, but they also had a newly rebuild Fokker D VII of the "Memorial Flight". It was up in the air for around 1h before the show already, but unfortunately the wind on the Saturday was to strong and prevented it's take-off. Some variety is always brought in by the participation from Great Britain, which are always good for some nice formation flying as they did this year with the Corsairs of Christophe Jacquard and "Les Ailes de l'Aéro". The Fighter Collection from Duxford participated with the Bearcat, Hawk 75 and Spitfire V.
