 Where? Edwards AFB, USA
When? 26/10/2002

Located in the centre of the californian dessert Edwards AFB is the main location for research and flight test of new US aircraft and aerial vehicles. This is mainly due to the fact of the excellent weather conditions with nearly no rain days during the year and the great salt lake which has been an ideal runway used for the first landings.

Looking out in the endless widths of the salt lake you can still image the thunders of the X-1 or X-15 breaking the sound barrier high in the skies above.
Actually this feeling revived that day with Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Chuck Yeager and his final military flight. On this occasion he pierced the sound barrier with an F-15 inscribed with the words 'Glamourous Glennis' as he did for the first time on Oct., 14 1947. He was accompagnied in another F-15 by Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Joseph Engle, a former X-15 pilot.

Shuttleworth Military Pageant Airshow 2014
Where? Old Warden, Biggleswade, UK
When? 07/09/2014

The Shuttleworth Collection has not been particularly lucky with the airshow weather in 2014. The main shows in August had to be cancelled, and for some other events the sun either did not want to come out or the winds were too strong for some of the aircraft to fly. However, for their Pageant Airshow in September everything went just right! And the DH.88 Comet was finally in the air again!

Cessna O-1 Bird Dog air-air photography
Where? Hahnweide, Germany
When? September 2016

Flying low over the jungle on tree top level the exploits of the Cessna O-1E Bird Dog in South East Asia are legendary. However, this venerable warbird is maybe one of the lesser known and unglamorous aircraft types flown during the Vietnam War, being manned by USAF and South Vietnamese pilots. Nevertheless some of the Bird Dog’s relive a renaissance today, as they are a cheap and affordable warbird, and a joy to fly!
