Lugano Airshow
And I did it again... Somehow I have to go at least once a year to Switzerland for one of their either very well or very scenic airshows. This time I went to the very south of Switzerland, only some more kilometers and I would have been in Italy. In the very scenic Ticino is Lugano located, on the board of a beautiful lake.

Above this bay the city organizes an airshow every two years. In 2003 the show has been a huge success with many participants, but unfortunately through the complaints about noise (during some hours on a Saturday afternoon) of many tourists, and not the inhabitants of Lugano themselves, the program was cut down for this year's edition.
It could not offer quantity, but nonetheless the quality was outstanding. Jet solo displays (Swiss F-18 Hornet, British Sea Harrier), team aerobatics (Patrouille Suisse, PC-7 Team, Red Bull Team, Breitling Jet Team) and displays by the Swiss Air Force Super Puma, a Darwin Airlines Saab 2000 and an Italian Canadair CL-415 Waterbomber performed very well in the narrow bay area surrounded by mountains, which is described by a display pilot as the "most demanding display area I know".
The crowd of around 50.000 people standing and sitting along the banks or in their own boats on the lake enjoyed the show a lot and continued partying during the night.
Let's all hope that the big success of this unique show continues in 2007! (update: the show has been cancelled in 2007, a new edition is planned in 2008...)
