Messerschmitt Bf-108 D-ESBH - Smooth Taifun

"Bravo Hotel, line-up runway 07 right for photo mission"
Finally, after months of preparation and strong support by the Messerschmitt Stiftung and the EADS Heritage Flight I am sitting in the photo-ship on that hot August day 2003 and can listen to the radio traffic of the Messerschmitt Bf-108 D-ESBH that is lining up on the runway in front of us and which is the main target of that photoflight.

Bf-108 D-ESBH

This Bf-108 is one of the few remaing examples of this classic construction of Willy Messerschmitt that has had its first flight more than 70 years ago. It already impressed at that former time with its flight characteristics which can still match the ones of modern aircraft in that class. Unfortunately the exact history of the "Bravo Hotel" until its appearance in the 1950s in Switzerland is unknown, though one suspects that it belonged to the German embassy until 1939. Today the Taifun is owned by the Messerschmitt Stiftung and operated and carefully looked after by the EADS Heritage Flight who will hopefully keep this aircraft with its beautful silhouette in the air for a long time.
Finally I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved in the preparation and realisation of this photo-flight!
